Hardface Notes, a field guide to coatings that have to survive
An independent technical reference covering electroless nickel, composite deposits, conversion coatings, and the tests used to assess them.
Field notes
The reference is arranged as a small technical library rather than a product funnel: four notes cover the process, five cover properties and testing, and four cover composites and companion coatings. Its subjects include phosphorus ranges, Vickers hardness readings, hydrogen relief baking, salt spray limitations, PTFE and silicon carbide codeposition, and chromate conversion on aluminium. The homepage says the notes draw on public technical sources and standards designations, and lists a dated historical account of the 1946 National Bureau of Standards discovery.
