The reference measures chips from National Diet Library scans in CIELAB under D50, normalising each plate to its own aged paper white. Its search modes begin with a colour, a phrase, or a photograph, while repeated colours can be compared across plates. The planned or described contents also include 492 hand-coloured birds from an 1875 book and sixty derived colour sets based on Ridgway’s 1,115-colour standard.
