Huemonic: A Color Wheel for Harmony
A macOS and Windows music plugin that maps the circle of fifths onto a color wheel for visual MIDI feedback and synthesis.
Field notes
The plugin uses a twelve-step wheel to connect color relationships with musical intervals: neighboring hues represent fifths, opposite hues represent tritones, and roughly 120-degree spacing represents thirds. Its MIDI display adds a second layer of feedback, with velocity changing saturation and octave changing brightness. The page also describes a multi-ring spiral for octave layers and a built-in synth with four oscillator shapes, resonant filtering, and an LFO.
