indice, a reading room for web archives
An open-source web archive server that turns WACZ files into searchable, browsable, and replayable collections.
Field notes
indice indexes WACZ collections into an embedded full-text search system and serves them over HTTP, combining faceted results with a month timeline and in-browser replay. Its examples cover local files, Browsertrix and Archive-It imports, and remote WACZ storage accessed through byte-range reads. The archive record retains crawl details such as operator, software, dates, seeds, and page counts, while the project also documents Markdown annotations attached to pages or selected passages.
