JATE is organized around plain-text editing rather than an expandable workspace. Its developer mode adds syntax colouring for a defined list of languages, while intentionally omitting autocomplete, linting, and project trees. The page lists a 1.3 MB package for macOS 14 or later, supports both Apple silicon and Intel, and exposes Mac App Store and Homebrew installation paths. A visible changelog notes a sharper welcome screen and faster scrolling in very large files.
