The project separates appliance measurements from the price applied to them: registry figures supply the former, while a user's utility tariff supplies the latter. Its first stated denominator is every basic water-heater model in the U.S. Department of Energy's Compliance Certification Database, rather than a handpicked selection. The homepage currently exposes the method, scope, and correction policy, but withholds model pages until the live registry and tariff pipeline can produce dated, source-linked figures.
