Galería Íntima, a library of personal worlds
A planned community gallery in Santa Cruz de la Sierra will give 130 people individual shelves for books, objects, handwritten notes, and self-selected traces of their inner lives.
Field notes
Participants receive a 45 × 30 × 35 cm shelf intended for roughly 15–20 books, with room for objects, handwritten notes, or photographs. The curator assigns each shelf’s position as part of the overall visitor route, and owners may change the contents. Visitors can read, converse, borrow a book briefly, and leave their name in a shelf’s reading record. The project says the local space will be reserved once 75 of 130 planned shelves have owners.
