Krorvira: Notes from the Academic Drawing Studio
A Czech editorial project records the practical knowledge of observational drawing, from arranging still lifes to building tone with graphite, charcoal, and red chalk.
Field notes
The project treats academic drawing as a sequence of decisions rather than a collection of finished images. Its notes cover the arrangement of a still life, a single light source, proportion checks, and the progression from construction to tone. One practical detail is the recommended working posture: the sheet remains vertical, the hand is led from the shoulder, and the drawing is viewed from a distance. Materials and preservation are also included, from graphite, charcoal, and red chalk to paper and fixative.
