Khatam surfaces are assembled from wafer-thin slices of bundled triangular rods, with brass, camel bone, and coloured woods forming repeating star patterns. The workshop says a medium board may contain more than 100,000 individual elements, while painted lids are finished freehand with squirrel-hair brushes. Its catalogue extends beyond backgammon and chess boards to jewellery boxes, presentation boxes, mirrors, frames, panels, and restoration work.
