Project PatchMap: a map of self-assembling particles
An interactive scientific explorer that connects patchy-particle designs to the structures they produce.
Field notes
Each point represents a particle design alongside the structure produced by its simulation, with proximity in the reduced map indicating shared structural motifs. The interface exposes RDF, bond-orientational order, and Voronoi-cell descriptors, while the query panel varies patch placement and protrusion ratio. Its inverse-design account uses a discrete neural adjoint method with Gumbel–Softmax relaxation, allowing gradient-based searches over otherwise discrete patch configurations.
