The archive treats small physical traces—bottles, cans, coasters, photographs, menus, advertisements, brewing notes, and letters—as links between breweries, people, places, and events. Its homepage reports 8,215 breweries across 156 countries, 21,521 beers, and 1,561 ownership events. The project also separates documented history from unresolved gaps, saying it uses UNKNOWN rather than inventing an answer, while offering sections for ownership, ingredients, travel routes, closed breweries, and open research questions.
