A mobile PDF reader lets you tap any sentence to hear it spoken while the exact line stays highlighted on the original page.

Field notes

Tuturr combines PDF rendering with sentence-level speech: the selected sentence remains highlighted as playback follows the page, including while the document is zoomed, scrolled, or rotated. It can continue through subsequent sentences, preserve the last reading position for each document, and accept files through device storage or sharing. Voice options include built-in Android/iOS speech and optional Carik engines; the local Android models are listed at roughly 64 MB and 145 MB, with the local engine marked experimental.
