Bachpan Replay: A Playable Indian Childhood
An interactive trip through 1990s Indian childhood, built from browser games, illustrated scenes, quizzes, and small memory-making toys.
Field notes
The project organizes its material as a set of small browser interactions rather than a linear essay. Visitors can switch between three memories during a power cut, flip book-cricket cards where zero is a wicket, tap objects in an illustrated living room, and compose keepsakes such as a mixtape cover or text postcard. Its framing acknowledges that Indian childhoods varied, while concentrating on recurring routines such as landlines, weekly television, school notebooks, monsoon paper boats, and staying outside until called home.
