Binding Unfolded
An interactive reference that compares eleven bookbinding structures and shows how each one opens.
Field notes
The reference models eleven binding methods as opening books rather than treating them as static definitions. Its comparison interface exposes individual layers—pages, cover, thread, adhesive, and hardware—and uses a shared slider to align two methods at the same opening state. A separate table records whether each structure uses loose leaves or signatures, whether the spine is exposed, and whether the finished book opens flat, folds back, or can be edited after binding.
