Fairlight Turns Stored Energy into Cargo
Fairlight is developing reusable iron carriers that could store renewable electricity, travel between compatible stations, and return through a shared physical network.
Field notes
The proposed FEC-1 carrier separates the machinery that processes stored energy from the energy medium itself. Fairlight describes stamped iron plates, a serviceable frame, replaceable components, and a 400 × 300 mm concept envelope, along with handling, docking, electrical, and optical identity interfaces. Its network model includes charging, storage, transport, use, and return, while lending and leasing remain proposed operating concepts. The page also flags safety, certification, chemistry, and commercial viability as work still to be established.
