Homestead XP’s Six-House Desert Experiment
A documented attempt to test homes, gardens, water systems, solar power, and homesteading skills across ten planned desert acres in Mohave Valley, Arizona.
Field notes
The project is organized as a five-phase sequence, beginning with skill-building and land research before construction. Its proposed comparison set includes a shipping container, geodesic dome, straw-bale build, earth-sheltered structure, shed conversion, and tiny home, with separate tracking for materials, labor, indoor temperature, energy, and water. A planned community center would turn the results into cooking, building, preservation, and desert-planning workshops.
