SparkFind, a Smaller Way Through the Mac Folder Maze
A native macOS utility that searches indexed filenames and surfaces the largest files on an Apple Silicon Mac.
Field notes
SparkFind builds a local filename index across accessible internal volumes, then exposes it through a menu-bar window and keyboard shortcut. Its separate large-files view sorts indexed files by size, with the demo showing an 8.4 GB video and a 3.2 GB archive. The page explicitly limits search to filenames rather than document contents and excludes cloud-provider folders by default. The visible beta is version 0.2.20 and supports Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 13.0 or later.
