SpindleGuard Gives Mechanical Storage a Queue
An experimental macOS storage broker that places a FIFO queue between applications and a backing directory, with a working FUSE-T prototype.
Field notes
The prototype exposes a virtual mount whose supported filesystem operations pass through a single FIFO queue before reaching a backing directory. Its recorded test used two independent client processes, disposable files on an internal SSD, and deliberately slowed read callbacks by 150 ms; the second metadata request waited 925.935 ms. The project explicitly limits the result: it queues individual callbacks rather than whole jobs and does not yet confine AI agents or protect real evidence drives.
