The project divides its reporting into field notes, town profiles, and Roots research. Its town section covers fourteen villages in fourteen regions, all below 5,000 residents, and includes practical constraints such as where beds run out or roads close. The sourcing method names town halls, state archives, the Ministry of Culture, Istat, and INGV, while the Roots section addresses uneven start dates for Italian civil registration and the implications for tracing American family history.
