Almavolna: Almaty on Its Own Frequency
A Kazakhstan cultural audio project pairing archival voices and contemporary interviews with original funk, disco, and house-inspired music.
Field notes
The first season is divided into nine themed entries, each pairing a public figure or archival voice with a musical direction and a piece of Almaty-centered context. Two entries currently expose 15-minute listening experiences with timestamped sections, including “Что мной движет” and “Создавать в Алматы.” Later entries cite source material from Harper’s BAZAAR Kazakhstan, PwC, Baitassov Live, and other named references, but are visibly marked as in preparation.
