Gothicfolio, a Field Guide to Medieval Art
An independent guide to medieval artworks, makers, materials, techniques, historical periods, and museum collections.
Field notes
Gothicfolio combines museum catalogue data with short interpretive passages and direct links to institutional records. The visible object example, Luna, is attributed to an unknown maker, dated 1458–1461, and recorded as a 270-by-183-millimetre hand-coloured woodcut from SMK. Separate indexes connect named makers to periods and places, while the historical timeline moves from Late Antique and Byzantine art through Insular, Carolingian, and Ottonian traditions.
