The index organizes documentation at a finer grain than a conventional chemical search: users can distinguish elemental metals, salts, alloys, solutions, powders, magnets, and other product forms, then refine by publisher or language. Its displayed inventory spans 405 materials and includes records from national laboratories, standards bodies, and commercial suppliers. Element counts vary sharply—gadolinium has 156 listed SDS while promethium has none—making the index itself a useful map of where documentation is concentrated.
