Amber Wants to Rescue Your Forgotten Favorite Albums
Amber is an iPhone app that scans listening history from Apple Music, Spotify, or last.fm and resurfaces albums you once loved but stopped playing.
Field notes
Amber uses a listener’s existing history rather than a recommendation feed: Apple Music or last.fm can be connected, while Spotify and Apple Music exports can be imported. Its selection rules are unusually constrained, with one album per day, no repeat within 60 days, and no more than one artist at once. The page also describes metadata beyond the usual cover-and-title view, including original release dates, writers, producers, samples, and back-cover artwork. The iPhone app is presented as still in development.
