A Viewshed Tool That Takes Forests Seriously
An interactive line-of-sight map that calculates what terrain, buildings, and forest canopy can hide from a chosen point.
Field notes
The calculator combines elevation with optional OpenStreetMap buildings and woodland, then applies observer and target heights to determine terrain visibility. Its controls cover a 200 m–300 km radius and use logarithmic adjustment, while large circles are processed at coarser resolution. The page also describes a special Lithuania dataset based on 2020 satellite tree-height measurements, with a fallback canopy height for areas where only forest outlines are available.
