Photo Server: A Photo Archive That Lives at Home

devayatechnologies.com Observed source
Editorial interest 84/100 Selection signal · not a rating of the site

A self-hosted photo library that restores capture dates, groups duplicates, organizes new imports, and sends encrypted nightly backups to the owner’s Google Drive.

Landing page captured for the 2026-09-15 issue.

Field notes

Photo Server uses photo metadata rather than filesystem timestamps, so a copied folder can still place a 2009 holiday in the correct year. Its import routine groups duplicate files for human review and leaves originals in ordinary folders. The backup component is described as requesting only Google’s drive.file permission, encrypting data on the home machine before transfer, and retaining the key locally. The illustrated interface includes years, trips, maps, favourites, albums, and slideshows, though the page labels it as a non-live example.
