Photo Server uses photo metadata rather than filesystem timestamps, so a copied folder can still place a 2009 holiday in the correct year. Its import routine groups duplicate files for human review and leaves originals in ordinary folders. The backup component is described as requesting only Google’s drive.file permission, encrypting data on the home machine before transfer, and retaining the key locally. The illustrated interface includes years, trips, maps, favourites, albums, and slideshows, though the page labels it as a non-live example.
