The project organizes its first issue around a central report asking what happens when a car-oriented city tries to return streets to people. Supporting pieces approach the subject through several reporting forms: data on walking, bus-stop shade, and travel times; a production chronicle about permits and interviews; a news item on a gathering of more than 64 enterprises; and an opinion column about shade becoming a luxury.
