Halftint: A Colour Wheel for the Tubes You Actually Own
A free browser tool for oil painters that maps a palette’s reachable colours and generates mixing recipes in knife-parts.
Field notes
Halftint takes the actual tubes in a painter’s palette as its input rather than relying on a generic colour wheel. It calculates the palette’s reachable range, rounds recipes into practical knife-parts, and reports the predicted ΔE introduced by that rounding. Its Mix Fix workflow also starts from an already mixed pile and recommends an addition, or says when no addition can reach the target. The page presents offline browser use after installation and a Zorn palette as an example.
