ITERI presents a metal 3D printer that feeds laser-fusion builds with rolls of powder sheet instead of a loose powder bed.

Landing page captured for the 2026-09-15 issue.

Field notes

The printer uses a supply roll and take-up roll rather than a loose powder bed, so changing chemistry means exchanging the feedstock roll instead of cleaning and requalifying a machine. ITERI says the same system has printed five alloy systems, including stainless steels, IN718, titanium alloy, and a high-entropy alloy. Its multi-material example places HEA, IN718, and SS304 in one part with fused interfaces between the layers.
