NZ History Map: Aotearoa, year by year
An interactive map traces two centuries of Aotearoa New Zealand history through 122 events across 17 regions.
Field notes
The project combines a geographic map with a playable timeline, using blended regional colour to show national developments and outlined regions to show places named directly in an event. Its homepage divides 122 entries into eight themes, including Treaty and Crown–Māori relations, war, government, social change, and disaster. It also marks 47 nationally defining moments and expands eight of them, including the Musket Wars, the Native Land Court, Tangiwai, Bastion Point, and the 1986 Homosexual Law Reform Act.
