Omphe gives your Mac a more human voice
A free Mac menu-bar app that reads selected text aloud in natural neural voices, across apps such as Claude, ChatGPT, Notes, Pages, Safari, and Mail.
Field notes
Omphe operates as a menu-bar utility rather than a browser reader: a keyboard shortcut captures highlighted text from another Mac application, cleans formatting, and sends it to a local Kokoro voice. The page lists separate Apple Silicon and Intel downloads, supports macOS 13 or later, and says the roughly 350 MB voice model is downloaded once before offline use. Optional ElevenLabs and OpenAI voices use keys stored in the macOS Keychain.
