JournalistLabs builds its dataset from job titles on public professional profiles, links outlet records to Wikidata, and groups the results by beat, country, role, and newsroom. Its September 2026 homepage lists 127,602 journalists at 8,800 outlets, including 63 AI-related titles across 48 outlets. The site also compares newsroom structure: the New York Times lists 1.81 editors per reporter, while the BBC lists 1.89 reporters per editor in its file.
