MenuBuddy: Order Without Guessing
A travel dining tool that translates photographed menus, checks dishes against allergies and diets, and helps users communicate with waiters.
Field notes
The workflow combines menu OCR, translation, allergen filtering, speech synthesis, and speech translation rather than stopping at menu text. The page says a scan can cover four menu pages and that dish verdicts account for 14 EU allergens and six diets. It also describes a deliberately local data model: menu photos are sent for reading and then discarded, while scan history and favorites remain on the phone. Mobile distribution is marked as coming soon.
