Schlaraffia New York, Where Club Night Becomes Medieval Theater
The website introduces a German-speaking New York fellowship whose fortnightly gatherings combine humor, arts, friendship, and elaborate medieval role-play.
Field notes
Realm Brooklynia presents its gatherings as Sippungen: German-language evenings where poetry, music, talks, sketches, satire, and medieval titles share the same program. The club meets every other Wednesday at Steubenburg on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, while its calendar also includes events with the Totowa realm and a dialect-themed evening. The site places the local group inside a larger network it describes as more than 200 realms across five continents, and identifies Brooklynia as Realm No. 123, founded in 1894.
