CommuteShift organizes American Community Survey five-year estimates into separate measures for travel time, driving, carpooling, transit, walking, cycling, and working from home. Its comparison method keeps counts, denominators, and 90% margins of error visible, then uses single-metric peer percentiles rather than combining measures into a grade. The coverage is substantial: 6,822 places, 3,073 counties, and 160,233,589 represented workers. Comparisons between 2021 and 2024 are explicitly labeled directional because the survey periods overlap.
