Editorial interest 79/100 Selection signal · not a rating of the site

A free browser tool that turns product part numbers and model codes into annotated diagrams showing what each character or segment means.

Landing page captured for the 2026-09-17 issue.

Field notes

The tool builds a diagram by pairing selected character ranges with user-written meanings and choices, then routing callout lines to those ranges. It also turns inline annotations into superscript references and a numbered list, and checks for overlaps or omissions before export. The supplied examples cover four-part, option-heavy, and five-part codes. Work stays in the browser, with JSON provided as the transfer format between devices.
