Couch: Linux for a Universal Remote
Couch replaces Android on the Sanytron Astrion HA100 universal remote with a custom Linux stack for controlling TVs, media players, lights, and receivers.
- For
- Owners and developers of the Sanytron Astrion HA100
- Worth noticing
- The interface targets the remote’s 480 × 800 screen and physical controls, with a roughly 13 MB WebAssembly demo.
Field notes
The project targets the HA100’s display, touchscreen, keypad, wireless radios, motion sensor, and built-in infrared transmitter through a custom kernel. Its native interface is compiled with Slint for the device’s 480 × 800 screen, while Rust clients provide typed integrations and configuration services. The site exposes source links and a browser demo compiled to WebAssembly. Installation is presented as a Wi-Fi process that can back up and restore Android, but hardware validation remains ongoing.
