DANIO: A 650,000-Neuron Fish-Brain Workbench
An interactive simulation and downloadable computational model of the adult Danionella cerebrum, with a Python interface for sensory inputs and motor outputs.
- For
- Computational neuroscience and robotics experimenters
- Worth noticing
- The package includes 1,023 inter-regional macro-tracts and six listed neurotransmitter phenotypes.
Field notes
The model is presented as a compressed NumPy archive with atlas regions, volume-constrained neuron coordinates, neurotransmitter labels, and 1,023 macro-tracts. Its example workflow feeds luminance, prey angle, water velocity, and acoustic frequency into a Python object, then reads tail thrust, yaw, and drumming output. The browser surface adds a 60 FPS simulation viewport, selectable anatomical regions, and separate full-CNS and cranial-connectome modes.
