ArenaOnAir turns MTG Arena into radio
An open-source local announcer that reads Magic Arena logs and narrates matches with synthesized play-by-play.
- For
- Magic Arena players who want live-match atmosphere
- Worth noticing
- An eight-utterance sliding window varies actor, card, and combat phrasing to reduce robotic repetition.
Field notes
The project reads MTG Arena’s diagnostic Player.log through open file descriptors, then maps match events to short-form commentary and local speech synthesis. Installation uses a Python virtual environment and optional Kokoro dependencies, with operating-system voice fallbacks listed for macOS, Windows, and Linux. The site also describes an eight-utterance variation window and tempo-based backlog pruning intended to keep fast combat from producing delayed narration.
