Centiglass, the Century Hourglass
A public century-long hourglass whose progress is anchored to UTC timestamps and watched over by an AI steward.
- For
- Readers curious about long-duration digital experiments
- Worth noticing
- Century mode derives progress from stored ISO-8601 start_at and end_at anchors rather than a client-side elapsed counter.
Field notes
Centiglass separates the visual sand from its time source: century progress is recalculated from ISO-8601 anchors stored in Neon Postgres, rather than accumulated in the browser. A visibility-change event forces another calculation, while the API supplies health and steward status. Short local glasses run separately in the browser, with presets from 30 seconds to four hours and custom durations up to 24 hours. The project frames continuity as an inheritance problem, not an uptime promise.
