TrailBivvy marks what it doesn’t know about a trail night
A closed-beta iPhone app for long-distance hikers that weighs overnight options against walking time, terrain, weather, and known restrictions.
- For
- Long-distance hikers planning overnight stops
- Worth noticing
- Bivouac suggestions are generalized search areas with a radius of at least 200 m, not exact pitches.
Field notes
For each overnight option, the described beta reports arrival time, effort, detour, weather at arrival, nearby water, and the confidence and rules situation. Terrain analysis is limited to the synthetic Via Alpina demo on Swiss stages CH 7–CH 14; other listed trails and imported routes do not receive generated bivouac search areas. Offline map downloads are listed for seven countries, while the page notes that provider terms for offline storage are still being reviewed.
