Dubai Cycle maps the rideable gaps
An upcoming free iPhone app for turn-by-turn cycling routes in Dubai, prioritizing cycle tracks over streets.
- For
- Cyclists navigating Dubai’s cycle-track network
- Worth noticing
- Ride endpoints are removed on-device; disconnected track fragments are only used or published in totals from at least five contributions.
Field notes
The homepage credits track data to RTA via Data Dubai open data and map data to OpenStreetMap. It says routes and voice guidance work offline, though background map tiles may not load. For privacy, start and end points are removed on-device; the remaining track fragments are not linked, and only totals from at least five contributions are used or published. When a street’s posted speed limit is unknown, the app estimates it from street type and warns that the result can be wrong.
