- For
- Researchers tracing Orenburg Cossack and local family history
- Worth noticing
- The page says uncertain readings are marked and links orders to scans; automated matching of a person’s scan line may still err.
Field notes
The order index is based on photographs of printed Orenburg Cossack military orders, which the project says were transcribed page by page into structured entries for people, places, and events. Full texts retain old orthography, while indexes use modern spelling and show the source form beside it. The page says doubtful readings are flagged and links to scans, but automated matching of a person’s line on a scan can be wrong.
