Nightscape Stacker: stack the sky, keep the landscape
A browser tool for stacking fixed-tripod Milky Way photos while preserving the original foreground or blending in a separate same-view photo.
- For
- Milky Way photographers using fixed-tripod JPEG or TIFF sequences
- Worth noticing
- Sky frames are capped at 32 megapixels, and at least three must pass alignment.
Field notes
The workflow starts by selecting a sharp sky reference and excluding foreground details from the sky mask. For a separate foreground, the page requires matching dimensions, crop, and orientation, and says small pixel shifts are available. It warns that fine branches, color matching, and foreground alignment are not automatic; unsupported color profiles and TIFF variants are rejected. The beta is limited to desktop Chrome or Edge, and RAW files must be exported first.
