An open-source tool for land managers to compare local burn-unit settings with the National Weather Service’s seven-day hourly forecast.

Landing page captured for the 2026-10-14 issue.
For
Individual land managers planning prescribed burns
Worth noticing
It rejects daily averaging and percentage scores: all configured weather parameters must pass together, hour by hour.

Field notes

A burn unit can include a location, fuel type, acreage, weather ranges, and a minimum duration; wind direction filtering is optional. The analysis checks each forecast hour against all configured ranges at once, then looks for qualifying runs of consecutive hours. Data can be backed up or transferred as JSON, while cross-device sync requires connecting to a server and saving a token.
