Gipfelkino turns a recorded ride into a short film
A browser-based tool turns FIT, GPX, TCX, or Garmin ZIP ride files into short, shareable cycling videos with maps, photos, and ride statistics.
- For
- Cyclists turning recorded rides into shareable videos
- Worth noticing
- A privacy-zone control can obscure the first and last 300 metres, 1 kilometre, or 3 kilometres of a route.
Field notes
Users select a FIT, GPX, TCX, or Garmin ZIP file, optionally add photos, choose which ride highlights appear, and export an MP4 in landscape, portrait, or square format. The page says GPS-tagged photos are placed along the route, while photos without GPS are matched by capture time; climbs and highlights slow down as flatter stretches and stops are shortened. It also describes a privacy-zone control for obscuring route endpoints. File processing is said to stay in the browser, though map tiles come from OpenFreeMap and AWS.
