Globe in Motion: a live atlas for Earth, sky and time
Eleven working instruments visualize subjects ranging from historical empires and daily NASA imagery to weather, orbital air data, the night sky, and the planets.
- For
- Curious readers of Earth, sky, and history
- Worth noticing
- The ledger names data sources, licenses, and what each instrument sends beyond the browser.
Field notes
The ledger attributes the Empires Globe to Cliopatria borders and the Seshat Global History Databank, and identifies NASA GIBS as the source for several imagery views. For some instruments it describes specific outbound requests, such as weather or quake data, and says location is used only after a visitor presses a location button. Four further ideas are marked “Soon”; they are presented as planned rather than working instruments.
