Open Cut Pro puts AI on the editing timeline
An in-development, free and open-source Mac video editor designed to let people request edits from AI, then continue shaping the same timeline by hand.
- For
- Mac video editors working with footage folders
- Worth noticing
- The page says AI editing requires the user's own Claude Code or Codex sign-in; manual editing would not.
Field notes
The proposed process begins with a footage folder: the app would index spoken words, shots, faces, framing and loudness so both the editor and agent can search the material. In the page's example, a 42-clip interview is cut to five passages, while a pause at 1:31 is deliberately retained. The site says later agent requests would build on the user's changes, with each request reversible in one undo step; these are described capabilities of a project still in development.
