Ostio Files makes the file manager extensible
An in-development, keyboard-first file manager for macOS and Windows, presented with an extension system that can add panels, commands, and file previews.
- For
- Keyboard-first macOS and Windows file managers
- Worth noticing
- The proposed Blob assistant uses the app’s own commands and waits for user approval before changing files.
Field notes
The extension model is described in interface terms: an add-on might contribute a toolbar button, its own panel, a status column, or a preview for a file type the app does not know. The built-in workflow descriptions include a Shelf for collecting files from different folders and a status center for managing background copies and moves. The page marks the software as in development, so these are product descriptions rather than confirmed working features.
