BirdTalk gives birds subtitles
A browser tool that uses BirdNET to identify a recorded bird, then offers a plain-English rendering; a second mode turns typed messages into bird sounds.
- For
- Curious birdwatchers and playful sound explorers
- Worth noticing
- Live recordings are capped at 15 seconds; the page recommends at least five and says audio never leaves the device.
Field notes
The identification flow accepts a live recording of up to 15 seconds or an uploaded clip; the page says five or more seconds works best and recommends moving away from traffic, wind, and running water. BirdNET is credited to the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics at Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Chemnitz University of Technology. A separate mode lets visitors choose a bird, enter up to 280 characters, and play or download the resulting sound. The page says audio stays on-device.
