Shimwise: the quote starts in the room
A planned iPhone quoting app for solo painters and handymen, built around room scans or spoken dimensions, a contractor’s own price book, and customer sign-off.
- For
- Solo painters and handymen quoting on-site
- Worth noticing
- The sample quote marks a drywall patch as “~1 hr (check),” showing where an uncertain line item needs review.
Field notes
The homepage’s sample quote for the Miller residence breaks an interior repaint into room-level lines, measurements, tax, and a $2,982 total; a drywall patch is marked “~1 hr (check).” The described workflow draws prices from a contractor’s own rate book and says uncertain items are flagged rather than filled from market averages. Shimwise says scanning, dictation, and quote-building work offline, while sending requires a connection; the iPhone app is listed as coming soon.
